A Cup of Comfort for the New Year

A Cup of Comfort for the New Year

Cold, Winter rainy weather and all it brings with it like coughs, sneezes, flu-like aches, etc. have made it’s way into my home this holiday season. I came across this tea guild to help me feel better and thought you might find it helpful as well.

Upset Stomach – Peppermint and ginger teas or you may find teas with added ingredients such as lemon, green tea or turmeric.

Soothe a sore throat– (I also use essential oils) Green tea is praised for the anti inflammatory properties and high antioxidants. Add a spoonful of hone to help soothe.

Not getting enough or good sleep? Try chamomile or lavender tea. Look for caffeine free varieties of these calming aroma teas.

Boost your health by adding garlic. It boosts the diseases fighting response of some types of white blood cells and adds flavor as well as immune boosting benefits

Broccoli is packed with vitamins and fiber but also offers digestive, anti oxidant and anti inflammatory benefits. Plus its low in calories – a win-win. Buying more of this in 2024.

I just found out that red bell peppers have more vitamin C than oranges.

Since I have this cold, I’m going to add red bell peppers to my healthy eating plan in 2024.

Plus, more salads – meaning adding spinach to the mix. Spinach is an excellent source of vitamin K, folate and beta carotene. Add it to a smoothie (including yogurt) for added benefits. Yogurt improves your gut health (as long as it contains “live and active cultures”.

If you’re not allergic to tree nuts, almonds is another treat for your body. It’s filled with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fiber. Eating almonds can help lower low density lipoprotein cholesterol and blood pressure. They also contain calcium and phosphorus to support bone health.

Last but not least, citrus fruits like lemons, oranges and grapefruits (who doesn’t love all of these?) They are a great way to flavor water so you drink more water 😊 but they are filled with vitamin C and dietary fiber and flavonoids and may help protect cells against free radical damage and reduce inflammation.

Here’s to a better, healthier you in 2024!

Cheers and Carry for Safety!

Jan
