Quarantine Lifted? Spring back to Normalcy and Celebrate … family and Mother’s Day.

Quarantine Lifted? Spring back to Normalcy and Celebrate … family and Mother’s Day.

I think we’re all ready for life to return to normal as we head into spring and look forward to summertime fun.  I know you missed your loved ones and heartbroken to have missed out on the many family events or celebrations over the past month or so, me too!

As our country begins to open up, Let’s get back to normal or perhaps a better you. Did you get the down time; the “rest and relaxation” you needed?

Family seems more important these days as “absence makes the heart grow fonder” rings true. Perhaps, you’re finding the silver lining of this quarantine to really spend quality time with your kids and family.

I know it’s been a rough few weeks, okay, maybe it feels like forever!

What did you do to get the most out of being at home? Are you still adjusting to working from home with your children underfoot….and being teacher, Principal and a Chef!

Do you feel like you’re running your own restaurant! There have been so many super hero stories of people helping people, neighbors helping neighbors.

As we move closure to May and Mother’s Day, I hope it will be extra special this year!

You need a big hug! You have done an amazing job getting through… and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Kinda symbolic, don’t you think? Right after Easter, the Spring Season and all?

Is it too early to think about Mother’s Day? It will be the first national holiday we can (of course, carefully following guidelines) get together – with friends, loved ones and party!

Mother’s Day 5/10/20

If you think Mom has everything and you have no idea how to make this day special, I’ve gotcha some help!

Nothing saves “I love you” like pictures! So, if you can’t think of a single thing, and we’ve got ideas in the photo below, remember Mom loves photographs of her children. (ok, I certainly do! – hint hint!)

So this list might have first been thought of for Christmas, but these are great ideas for Mom – for any occasion! I would also add our clothes, and accessories. Of course, teaching your mother how to save and defend her life is “priceless”. Our clothes will have Mom in style whether she carries a firearm or pepper spray, she’ll never be a victim.

101 Gift Giving Ideas for Mom

I’m guessing these past few weeks have really made you more aware of how you can best protect your family Take comfort in that you’re not alone. If you one of the many new gun owners since this virus invaded us, you appreciate the 2nd Amendment more and the sense of empowerment this new found skill gives you. Now that you’ve realized that you are the “First Responder” to your situation, I urge you to keep up with the practice and the training.

I’m a founding member of The Women’s Concealed Carry Alliance; all things women and concealed carry.   In today’s world, women desire options for everyday concealed carry.  To meet the need, these entrepreneurial women have stepped up to solve the need for real options.  That’s where the WCCA comes in, to provide one reliable source to find all those carry options, and meet the women behind the designs.  About WCCA

Here’s a graphic of other valuable resources to check out.

If this isn’t you, I urge you to think about this reality and to empower others. Learning to drive a car at 16, gave you a great sense of freedom, independence and empowerment. Being able to defend your life can give you so much more. There are a lot of options from guns / firearms to pepper spray, stun gun, striking tools and more.

Learn From My Mistakes – Overcoming objections to learning to shoot – #120

Learn From My Mistakes – Overcoming objections to learning to shoot – #120

It’s a new year and you’ve decided to be responsible – responsible for your life and your safety. You’ve decided the fear of losing life is greater than the fear of learning how to shoot a firearm- safely and to learn about firearms in general.
Let me congratulate you again on this big step! Please know you are not alone in this journey. There are several resources out there, no matter where you are on the journey. We are always learning new skills and perfecting old ones.
Were you using the excuse that ‘my husband is my protector’ – “he’ll save me”. When I started leaving the house before him going to an office in a remote business complex, he said it’s time I learned how to shoot and carry (a gun)… for MY own SAFETY!

At this point in my life, my kids were out of the house, but I can assure you that if they were younger and at home, knowing what I know now, I’d learned how to shoot much earlier than I did. Thank goodness for my husband’s suggestion and encouragement! Is your significant other ‘pushing’ (i.e. encouraging) you to carry?

One other excuse we may tell ourselves is, that I don’t live or go to bad area(s) of town. Has this thought kept you from learning to shoot? Do you really think for one minute, that there isn’t a bad area of town, anywhere? Unfortunately, I have to say “Not in this day and age”. That may have been true once upon a time, but sadly, it ain’t the truth no more. Unfortunately, the news has a revolving headline of bad, evil people doing bad, evil acts everywhere… even in church (White Settlement, Tx).

The point being is that your odds aren’t zero (of something happening to you or someone you know). Isn’t it better to be prepared; have a plan and a means in which to protect yourself no matter where you go or live?
This doesn’t mean you have to choose a firearm for protection. There are other non-lethal options, but you should learn how to use whatever device you pick. Some of these non-lethal tools might be a striking tool/pen, pepper spray, stun gun, or a taser (check with state laws as taser guns aren’t legal in every state).

It is a fact that you are responsible for every bullet that leaves your muzzle and I can understand that is a scary thought should you actually have to draw your weapon as a defense and the fear that you might not hit your target. No matter if you believe your husband is a better shot, when it comes to stress (unless training under stress) we really don’t know how we’ll respond.
With some forethought, planning and even training, if both you are armed, you both are able to defend. You double your powers of observation, information processing and defense.
Don’t fall into this thinking: “What are the chances that….and I don’t want to live/think being paranoid.”It is practical, intelligent and necessary to consider that bad things might happen. In fact, many use Coopers color system of awareness. Think about how you plan for emergencies in other areas of your life. These days no one leaves home without their cell phone, why? Ok, so you don’t want to miss any news but isn’t it also for safety? In case of flat tire, you get lost or a true emergency.  Think of it this way, you don’t expect to have a kitchen fire but I bet you have a fire extinguisher nearby so why not apply this same reasoning to yourself and your safety?

Learn from my mistakes – Lesson #108 7/24/19

I can hardly believe that summer is over. What does that mean for you and your concealed carry journey? What about your children and their safety?

Some of life lessons are hard;  and others hurt. As parents, we want to protect our children from some of these tough lessons.

As a new Damsel in Defense recruit, I am more aware of the onslaught of issues facing kids these days. Maybe it wasn’t this bad back then… or is it that we are now more aware due to such advocates as Damsel in Defense. There are some great educational items regarding how to talk to your children about many tough subjects.

Last weekend was the 2nd annual National Train a Teacher Day. Did you participate in it? How so? Oh, you don’t know about this? So glad you asked! This is a day for educators and staff members of schools to have a golden opportunity to get some excellent firearm instruction ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE!

Why? For our children.

Evil seems to be running amuck, and I’d say the more we remove God from our lives, the worse it gets. Sadly, gun free zones like our schools have become target too many times. As politicians and communities work together to pass laws giving power back to the states and school districts to implement additional layers of protection by volunteer basis of having some armed teachers or staff members.

Removing “gun free zones” and training adults to concealed carry, they can act quickly to save lives, stop the incident before the police even arrive.

We’ve been taught that education can be a game changer. We need to teach our kids about situational awareness and the dangers they can face being online – cyber bullying, and well, we know there’s so many other things too.

That’s why I’m excited to announce I now can offer you the tools you need to help keep your kids safe. Proactive Parenting books, Safe Hearts, make it easy to discuss uncomfortable topics with your children.

These books make tough topics easy to talk about. Back to school time is about staying safe.

One word of warning! I was unaware of this until recently. It seems unbeknown to me, one of my children’s curiosity got the best of him…. I guess it’s true – Boys will be boys. 🙂

My son decide to “test” my pepper spray. Fortunately, it must not have been bad because I never knew this. It did make his eyes water and burned for a little while. So, make sure you keep any pepper spray in a safe place and away for curious kids.
