(Would you say that it’s rather interesting how the media responds to a shooting when it’s one of their own…. just saying).
I bring this up to emphasize how important gun safety is to understand and to practice it ALL THE TIME!
This is a tragedy and please keep cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ family in your prayers.
I feel like this is a good time to re evaluate my (and perhaps) your mindset. I believe this is at the core of making the decision to carry a firearm for self protection.
Are you mentally and emotionally prepared to pull the trigger if your life is threatened or another?
Don’t brush over this decision without some soul searching. If it’s not for you, you should know that (and if that’s you, it’s completely fine! No judgement here!).
Now would be the opportunity to chose another means for self defense (check out my Damsel in Defense site)
So, if you’re on board with the mental and emotional aspects of this decision and you carry, do you also carry some sort of shooters’ insurance?
This is basically insurance to help with the legal ramifications and legal assistance (this is another blog story to write).
If you don’t know about this type of insurance, now is a good time to study up on why and how it can help you should you ever have to draw your firearm.
Some companies to check out are (in no particular order).
I would invite you to-
find some time to explore (or re visit) your reasons for carrying self defense tools, whether it’s non-lethal or lethal.
Given our current social intolerance in culture, rise in crime rates, and the decline of consequences for breaking the law; one’s likelihood of an encounter some sort of scenario is, unfortunately, on the rise.

How do you what firearm is “right for you”? For me, it was the ‘ol fashioned way – trial and error.
That was the beginning of my journey into firearms. I followed my husband’s lead. After all, he’s the one that introduced me to firearms and joy of shooting. He grew up around firearms and has been a life long hunter.
His love for me and concern for my safety led me to learn about firearm safety, training and to be armed so I can defend my life if ever faced with such a situation. This journey lead me to create Incognito Wear IX. I’m so glad I did too! We are living in some crazy times!
Many realize that now more than ever we need to be vigilant, aware of our surroundings and equipped with life saving tools.
Naturally, my husband wanted to buy me the best gun, with the best knock down caliber and with the most rounds. I couldn’t agree more, except, it wasn’t right for me (at the time).
So you want to purchase a firearm and sign up for some lessons because you want to be safe around firearms and understand how to safely operate your gun.
I haven’t shot that firearm since my beginning. In fact, I’d bet you or someone you know has purchased a firearm (or two) that they no longer can shoot, or have sold because they weren’t right for them. I strongly recommend RENTING and Shooting the firearm you are considering purchasing before you buy.
I was thrilled to finally find my firearm!
Well, the truth be told, I took it from my husband :). You see, I have smaller hands and “trying” a gun without shooting it, you think you can R-E-A-C-H the trigger until you’re on the range and it malfunctions.
Oh, the joy though when you do find the firearm for you! It’s fun to shoot! You hit the target! You are empowered!
That’s the feeling I have with my Sig Sauer P365. This is what I didn’t know – It’s American made. I’ll share the history of Sig Sauer from USCCA article I found it very interesting and hope you do to!
